How to start a youtube channel for your business

How to start a youtube channel for your business play video

Starting a YouTube channel as a business is basically like starting any other YouTube channel, except for the type of content you post.

Of course you can do YouTube ads, but a better way is to grow your new YouTube channel organically.
YouTube ads is a short-term solution with immediate results, growing organically a long-term solution that takes some time to grow.
But can yield much higher results when you play your cards right.

There are 2 ways to promote your business, depending on the type of business you have.

Solution route

The first one is the solution route.
When you have a businesses that solves a problem of a client, you should provide the solution to their problem with your content.

You generally target the YouTube Search algorithm: because viewers type their problem into YouTube Search and you have the videos solving their problem.

Your solution is either better, faster or easier than the existing solutions out there.
Make sure you communicate that in title and thumbnail, so viewers have a reason to click on your video instead of the competition.

For example:
Lets say that you make a wood carving knife.
You solve the problem of viewers wanting to make a beautiful sculture out of wood.
The video should be about how to make the sculpture, and you use your product to do that.
So you can show in the video how good your product is, so viewers can see how it works and that they need it.
You should talk about the general techniques of wood carving, so viewers that aren’t willing to buy your product, can still take value from the video.

This big mistake I see a lot of businesses make is that they treat organic YouTube videos like ads.
It isn’t, far from it!

YouTube is a social media platform with viewers, engagement and viewer satisfaction.
So, make sure you always solve the problem that viewers have, this way viewers are satisfied with the video.

With an ad you talk about a problem, and in order to get the solution you have to buy your product.
That’s not YouTube!
It will repel viewers, which will hurt your viewer satisfaction, a metric that YouTube values more than anything else for promoting more of your videos organically.

For example:
I created a video on my music production channel about how to make chord progressions.
I show viewer how to make them, but make them aware that it takes a lot of time, and you have to memorize all the combinations.
But for just a couple of bucks you can buy a chord progressions pack and you never have that problem again.

In this example I provide the solution in the video, but show you how you can do it easier and faster with my product.

Viewers are often lost for ideas.
You can help them with your content.
In the example I mentioned earlier, I talked about making a wood sculpture.
But there are other things you can make out of wood: an ashtray, a pipe, a bird house...
Those are all great video ideas for your product to be the star of the show.

I’ve helped numerous clients grow their YouTube channel this way.

Social route

The other route is the social route.
An energy-drink brand does technicially solve a problem: lack of energy.
But that is typically not the thing that viewers will type into YouTube Search.
And it’s really hard to make videos that solve that problem.

The clientele for an energy drink is very broad.
So the better route to take is to make content that appeals to a large audience, that has a potential to go viral.

Content idea 1:
Sending a reporter to a big music festival doing funny interviews with people.
Of course everything is branded with your brand (from the microphone to the drink you see people drink).

Content idea 2:
Do challenges that have to do with your brand.
Like, who can build the largest tower of cans?

If you like to talk to me about a strategy to grow your brand, let’s talk.
When you are serious about YouTube and want to take it to the next level, take a look at my video training program: Viral Strategy.
The program takes you step-by-step through the process of getting views, subscribers and going viral.

For new creators I included a module that guides you step-by-step through the process of starting, creating and setting up a YouTube channel.
